Other Family Visas


  • Offshore Child Visa (Subclass 101): Parents who are Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents or Eligible New Zealand Citizens can sponsor their single children/step children or adopted children, who are either younger than 18 years of age or full-time students between 18 – 25 years of age or older than 18 years but unable to work due to disability and dependent on sponsoring parents to live with them.
  • Onshore Child Visa (Subclass 802): This is similar visa to subclass 101 but has to be applied when child is in Australia.
  • Offshore Remaining Relative (Permanent) Visa (Subclass 115): Those people whose only relatives are settled Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents or Eligible New Zealand Citizens and ready to sponsors and provide the Assurance of Support, can apply for this visa. This is a permanent visa but has a very long visa processing period (Around 50 years).
  • Onshore Remaining Relative (Permanent) Visa (Subclass 835): This is a similar visa to subclass 115. This visa must be applied onshore and the applicant can stay in Australia during the processing of this visa. Applicants must arrange their own private health insurance as they cannot access any government funded health programmes.
  • Offshore Aged Dependent Relative (Permanent) Visa (Subclass 114): Single people who are older than 65 years and financially dependent on their settled Australian relative, who is an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident or Eligible New Zealand Citizen can apply for this visa. This is a permanent visa and subjected to Capping and Queuing. The current waiting time for the grant of this visa is around 50 years.
  • Onshore Aged Dependent Relative (Permanent) Visa (Subclass 838): Similar visa to subclass 114 but must be applied Onshore. Applicant can stay in Australia during the processing of this visa. Applicants must arrange their own private health insurance as they cannot access any government funded health programmes.
  • Carer (Permanent) Visa (Subclass 116/836): These visas are for the people both onshore and offshore who want to care for a relative (Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident or Eligible New Zealand Citizen) with long term/permanent medical condition or to assist a relative who is providing care to a member of their family unit with a long term/permanent medical Condition.
  • Orphan Relative (Permanent) Visa (Subclass 117/837): Children under the age of 18 years who are not married or in De facto relationship, whose both parents are dead or cannot found or unable to take care of children can be eligible for these visas. These children must be sponsored by a settled Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident or eligible New Zealand citizen brother, sister, uncle, aunt, grandparents or step equivalent.
